Every developer starts by learning HTML and CSS first because they form the base of web development, every website you see uses HTML and CSS.

What are HTML and CSS?

If we talk about HTML, it stands for HyperText Markup Language, as you can see the full form tells us that HTML is a Markup Language and not a programming language, now you might be thinking what is the difference between a Markup Language and a Programming Language? we can say that Markup Langauge is not used for any functional purpose whereas Programming Languages perform various functions. Now coming back to what are HTML and CSS? HTML forms the skeleton of the webpage whereas CSS plays an important role in styling it, whether it should be blue or black. all these kinda stuff are decided using CSS.

What after HTML and CSS?

Once you are done with HTML and CSS then you have two options available either you learn a CSS framework like Tailwind or Bootstrap or move on to JavaScript, After I finished CSS, I moved on to Vanilla JavaScript you might be thinking what is this new stuff Vanilla JavaScript? It is nothing but pure JavaScript without any frameworks or libraries. Later on, I learned about Tailwind CSS. But I think before moving on to JavaScript you should learn a CSS framework because once you start learning JavaScript you won't focus on the designing part so with frameworks you can easily build up anything much faster with predefined classes and do experiments with them.

What next?

It is essential to apply your learnings, so after all this, you should try to apply your knowledge by creating some mini-apps, or your portfolio, After I finished all this I created my own portfolio and a notes app using Vanilla JS, also Microsoft Clone using Tailwind, the very first framework I learned.

Now it's time to know about open source for that I recommend an awesome creator Kunal Kushwaha, you can watch his videos on youtube about open-source and after knowing what is open-source you should start contributing to it, for that you should be knowing about version control, I would recommend you to learn the most popular version control i.e. Git and GitHub. You can also find the tutorial for Git and GitHub on Kunal Kushwaha's Channel.

In the end

I hope learning all these would be enough for one to call himself a Front-end Developer.

Remember, knowledge is not static. It's a journey of continuous exploration and discovery. So, let's keep pushing the boundaries, challenging our assumptions, and seeking out new perspectives.

Thank you for reading so far! Keep building new projects and experience.
Until next time, stay curious and keep exploring.

Warm regards!
Ayush Gupta

Back when I was in class 6th there was a chapter in our computer book called HTML - Hyper Text Markup Language and they introduced us to it, they didn't even tell us the use of HTML just told us the basics which were also not properly told. 2-3 pages were all the chapter took in which half of the chapter was about how to open notepad and create a .html file. But that spark made me go deeper into HTML and I got to know about Web Development and I started watching tutorials on HTML. The very first channel I visited and looked over was Mentors Adda but I didn't do any great stuff back there. Later on, in class 7th all we talked about was MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Powerpoint which were quite boring are not understood by me till date, especially MS Excel.

MS Excel to me:

But after that, I got really interested in Web Development so I checked out more channels where I can find complete tutorials to become a web developer and I got to know about CodeWithHarry. After watching his tutorials I created my very first project in class 7th, a food ordering website with no functionalities as I had no knowledge of JavaScript and at that time I didn't even know about version controls so I guess I can not show you that precious website of mine. After that, I took a long pause maybe because I was not too concerned.

The main story starts when I was in class 8th where I learned about many things, including open-source, version control, front-end, and back-end. So I started learning and exploring, first I watched many videos and understood what really is front-end, back-end, or full-stack, and after watching I made up my mind of being a full-stack developer. Also, I was good at programming so my computer teacher Ma'am Shiphali encouraged me a lot, and especially the angry and disappointed looks of toppers when Ma'am praised me for my hard work were quite entertaining, I never told her about my web development journey maybe because I was too shy. Web Development was my main focus but I was also learning Java as it was a part of our computer syllabus and all we studied in Java was how to write a program printing "Hello World". Then I got to know about Git and GitHub and also about open-source from popular content creator Kunal Kushwaha. Java seems to be a bit easy for me to understand as it wasn't the first programming language I was learning I had already learned JS so understanding Java wasn't that tough. Eventually, I got to know about hackathons and also about freelancing, I made my first account on Upwork where I guess I never found any clients because of my weak portfolio and I participated in my very first hackathon organized by MLH, The Local Hack Week: Share 2022 where I did many fun activities like creating a discord bot. And finally, after being told by my elder brother Kunal Gupta I joined Showwcase, it is a great platform where I got to know many new things and it is a world full of developers practicing different tech stacks. Also, I participated in the #21daysofupdates challenge of Showwcase where I won developer t-shirts. Though the t-shirts never fit me, I was happy to have them as they were a great achievement for me.

Thank You Showwcase!! 😍

I started to learn and grow with all the resources in my hand, and have shared them at the end. And currently, stand as a Front-end Developer having knowledge of various tech stacks like -
